Dr. Oliver Gnad

Oliver Gnad loves standing at the drawing board shaping creative ideas in broader dimensions – exactly what you would expect from a graduated historian. He built his world-wide network when he worked for the “ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius” [ZEIT-Foundation Ebelin and Gerd Bucerius]. There he was programme manager for international projects – including the prestigious Bucerius Summer School on Global Governance and the Africa-Forum initiated by the Federal President Horst Köhler. Equally formative for him were the 10 years of international development cooperation focusing on environmental policy, on the energy sector and on the wide issues of security networks. As regards the Bureau, he is primarily responsible for environment analysis and -assessment as well as for strategic forecasting and scenario planning. Oliver Gnad teaches structured analytic techniques (SAT) at the Hertie School of Governance and he is Visiting Fellow of the Dahrendorf Forum. He is also member of the German group of experts of the “New Pact for Europe” – a Europe-wide association of private foundations to promote the idea of European integration. What is it that makes him enthusiastic? It is people who burn for their cause and who are prepared to take a risk.
