Bureau contributes Scenario for ECFR’s ‘Rethink: Europe’ Programme
On 12 and 13 January, Rethink: Europe gathered over 35 think tankers and intellectuals in Berlin for a lively and vigorous debate on Europe’s strategic future. The seminar built on eight scenarios which sought to envisage what Europe might look like by the year 2025 – the Bureau für Zeitgeschehen provided one of them titled “An Ever Hollower Union in a Strongmen’s World“.
Participants sought to unpack the structural and analytical issues which shape, influence, and potentially undermine foreign policy-making in the EU; with more than two-thirds of attendees coming from outside Germany, a sundry of distinct perspectives was present.
The seminar will be followed by a second workshop om 27 April at which policy practitioners will be asked to expand on the ideas discussed so far and derive concrete implications and solutions for EU foreign policy.
