How will the society and politics in the German Federal State of Saxony present itself in the year 2030? Is the economy booming – perhaps especially in the border regions? Does a constructive debate between political elites and civil society provide efficient solutions for social cohesion? With a two-day scenario workshop on 15th and 16th November 2018 in Dresden, the Bureau für Zeitgeschehen supports the project “Heimat.Demokratie.Sachsen”. The project is implemented jointly by the RAA Sachsen e.V. and supported by the Freudenberg Foundation, the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Cellex Foundation.
The panoramic view on a “Saxony 2030” is provided by a focus group consisting of around 30 citizens from various sectors of society. Together, we bundle ideas, perceptions, assessments and values in order to design alternative visions of Saxony`s future in 2030. In this way, we are responding to the opinion of two thirds of the Saxons, who consider their influence on politics to be marginal and – at the same time – would wish for more opportunities to participate in local politics.
The scenarios form the starting point of a statewide debate on the future aspirations of Saxony’s citizens. Which internal and external factors will significantly influence the future of the Federal State? And above all: Which decisions have to be made in order to let the desired visions of the future become a reality?
