German Federal Minister of Health: “COVID uncovers our weaknesses.”
So far, the containment of the COVID 19 pandemic in Germany has been fairly successful. This is partly due to a strong health care system and social collaboration, as the German Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn has stated in an online dialog conducted by the Robert Bosch Stiftung (only in German).
The discussion with the Federal Minister of Health kicks off a series of dialogue sessions between science, civil society, and politics. Within the Robert Bosch Stiftung’s initiative “Neustart!” citizens will be given the opportunity to develop reform proposals and comment on the work of experts in a total of seven think labs prior to the 2021 German parliamentary elections. In September 2020, experts will regather in a 5th Think Lab to discuss the central aspects of future financing mechanisms for the German healthcare system. The Bureau für Zeitgeschehen (BfZ) is supporting these Think Labs with methodological expertise. A creative mix of methods lifts the experts future visions and supports them in developing genuine reform proposals.
