Realignment in Times of Shrinking Spaces

Realignment in Times of Shrinking Spaces

The rise of illiberal politics have affected the Open Society Foundations’ (OSF) engagement in Europe: In several countries, advocating for OSF core themes – such as the protection of human rights and minority rights – has become increasingly challenging and traditional partners from civil society are highly under pressure. So is OSF itself: Recently the organisation has decided to move its offices from Budapest to Berlin.

Against this background, the Bureau für Zeitgeschehen supports the Open Society Initiative For Europe (OSIFE) as well as the Open Society European Policy Institute (OSEPI) to address global trends via Strategic Foresight. The ideas and vision generated in the scenario workshop (2nd and 3rd July, 2019, Berlin) will not only provide guidance but will also help to shape the organisation-wide review processes with the aim of giving thought leadership on emerging challenges and opportunities for OSF in Europe.
