Simulation of Political Strategies to Handle COVID-19
The COVID 19 virus is keeping the world on edge while its social, political and economic consequences remain highly uncertain. Together with Strategic Advisors for Transformation (SAT), Schramm Unternehmensberatung and US-Foresight expert Mathew J. Burrows, the Bureau für Zeitgeschehen developed a visualization and analysis of the complex risk structures in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the System Dynamics model, the risks posed by COVID-19 are not considered in isolation, but their interdependencies and interactions are presented, analysed and evaluated in a sound and transparent manner. Therefore, the model not only simulates the pandemic spread of the virus. It rather enables to run through the macroeconomic effects in the dynamic crisis situation in order to extract profound domestic and foreign policy actions for risk reduction. Against this background, the model, that is based on mass data, functions as an “early warning system” for political decision-makers at national and international level and empowers them to identify potential undesirable developments at an early stage and to counter them effectively.
