The Jacques Delors Institute, Berlin, has appointed Oliver Gnad to the 25-headed national group of experts of the Europe-wide initiative „New Pact for Europe“. By next spring, “New Pact for Europe” will point out overlaps as well as pitfalls in the cooperation of the ten EU-countries involved. On this basis, it will develop new ideas for the future of the European integration regarding concrete policy fields (such as migration, security, the future of the economic and currency union).

In 2013, the project was initiated by a pan-European consortium of foundations (such as the Bertelsmann Foundation, the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt, the King Baudouin Foundation, and the Gulbenkian Foundation); it is looking after the European process. The Jacques Delors Institute, Berlin, is responsible for the process in Germany.

The German group of experts met in Berlin on 5 July, 2016 for the first time. The first transnational meeting of the German and the Slovakian expert groups took place in Bratislava from 27-28 October, 2016. The German group will reconvene in Berlin from 23-24 January, 2017.
