Employment in Kenya and Tunisia in 2025: The role of automation, digitalization and artificial intellligence
Digital change is both engine for development and a high-risk factor at the same time. On the one hand, it provides access to information and technology unwitnessed in history, but on the other hand, it massively transforms economies and may account for a loss of employment due to increased automatization. For the GIZ and German Development Aid in general, such disruptive transformation bear heavily. With the help of two case studies, Kenya and Tunisia, the workshop pose essential questions on the future of German development assistance in 2025.
The Bureau fuer Zeitgeschehen supported GIZ’s Sectoral Department (FMB) in developing scenarios with an eye on economic development in Kenya and Tunisia. Key question: How will local employment be affected by increasing automation, digitalization and artificial intelligence up until the year 2025. And how can GIZ prepare?
