How will the society and politics in the German Federal State of Saxony look like in the year 2030? Is the economy booming – perhaps especially in the border regions? Does a constructive debate between political elites and civil society provide efficient solutions for social cohesion? With a two-day scenario workshop on 6th and 7th February 2019 in Dresden, the Bureau für Zeitgeschehen (BfZ) supports the project “Heimat.Demokratie.Sachsen”. The project is implemented by RAA Sachsen e.V. and supported by the Freudenberg Foundation, the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Cellex Foundation.

Prospects for a “Saxony 2030” are provided by a selectively composed focus group comprising all areas of society. With the help of the BfZ’s methodical expertise, the participants bundle their ideas, perceptions, assessments and values in order to design alternative visions of Saxony`s future in 2030.

The scenarios form the starting point of a statewide debate on the future aspirations of Saxony’s citizens. Which internal and external factors will significantly influence the future of the Federal State? And above all: Which decisions have to be made in order to let the desired visions of the future become a reality?
